The Klein Cain Dance department has a variety of classes to fit
​many interests and levels in dance.  ​

Below you will find all the dance classes that are offered at Klein Cain HS with a brief description of the course and if it auditions are required. If you have any questions, please contact Coach LaRoe at [email protected].

IMPORTANT NOTICE
ALL dance classes are expected to participate in our annual Spring Show on Friday, April 2nd at Klein Cain HS. This performance is required for all class participants and is multiple major grades during the Quarter 4 grading period. Their Spring Show performance meets the required performance TEKS set by TEA.

Principles of Dance I-IV

Open to all Klein Cain students 9th-12th grade
Earn Fine Arts and/or PE credit (not simultaneously)

Principles of Dance I is an introductory course designed to explore the fundamentals of dance through ballet, jazz, tap, modern, world dance, and choreography. Students develop dance technique, creativity, musicality, and an appreciation for dance history while building confidence, self-discipline, and performance skills.

Principles of Dance II-IV is a continuation of Dance I expanding on dance technique, movement vocabulary, various choreography skills, creative expression, musicality and historical applications. There are more collaborative and individual projects along with 3 performances outside of school hours throughout the year.

• Klein ISD Fine Arts Festival - April 17th @ Klein HS

Dancewear and shoes are required, and a course fee of $40.
Dance IV receives advanced grade points.

Dance Company I-IV

AUDITIONS REQUIRED - video submissions due in first week of May
​Open to all Klein Cain students 9th-12th grade
Earn Fine Arts and/or PE credit (not simultaneously)

Dance Company I-IV is an advanced performance-based program designed for dedicated dancers who want to grow as performers and artists. Students train in a variety of dance styles and techniques while developing choreography, creativity, and performance skills through both individual and ensemble work. 

Dance Company is a full-year commitment that includes 3 performances throughout the year. Required rehearsals and performances may take place outside of school hours.

Students are expected to provide dancewear and shoes for both class and performances.
Required course fee of $100 to help cover master class teachers/choreographers and other class needs.

Dance Crew I-IV

Dance Crew I-IV is a performance-based program designed for students who want to develop their technique, artistry, and performance skills in a variety of dance styles. Dancers use movement as a form of expression while exploring choreography and collaborating in both individual and group performances.

Dance Crew is a full-year commitment that includes 3 performances throughout the year. Required rehearsals and performances may take place outside of school hours.

Dance Wellnes I

MUST BE ON AN ATHLETIC TEAM PRIOR TO ENROLLMENT & THROUGHOUT YEAR
Open to 10th - 12th grade ONLY

Dance Wellness is designed for athletes who want to improve their performance through movement and dance. Students explore a variety of dance styles, including ballet, jazz, hip hop, and social dance, while learning about injury prevention, stretching, and strength training.
​
This course focuses on developing flexibility, balance, coordination, agility, and explosiveness, helping athletes become stronger, more well-rounded performers both on and off the field.

Students are expected to provide their own athletic wear (no jeans) for class and performance.
Dance Wellness is required to participate in our annual Spring Show on April 2nd at Klein Cain HS.

Partners in Dance I-IV

Placement through Access and student's Counselor
​Earn Fine Arts and/or PE credit (not simultaneously)

Partners in Dance I-IV is a movement based class for our Klein Cain Access students. This class is paired usually with one of our Dance I classes and students get to experience different dance styles like ballet, jazz, hip hop, modern, pom, and creative movement.

No dancewear required and no course fee. Performances are not required, but offered to those who would like to participate in Spring Show on April 2nd at Klein Cain HS.

Dance Team I-IV

​AUDITIONS REQUIRED - April 12th-15th
​Open to all Klein Cain students 9th-12th grade
Earn Fine Arts credit/PE credit is earned during football season
